The Snake and the Owner

Rewritten by me =) based off Aesop's fable.

A SNAKE made a hole in the pool deck when he claimed it to be his new home. It wasn't until a baby boy was poking his finger into the hole that the snake realized his mistake. He bit the boy in a defensive strike. The boy's father owned the pool and when he saw his son's lifeless body he swore to kill the Snake. He grabbed his shovel and waited for the Snake to come out. The Snake was smart though and waited. Once it became night time, the Snake figured it was safe. He slithered out of the hole only to see the owner. He brought down his shovel with so much blind hatred he missed the Snake's head and took off his tail. The owner ran inside the house. He feared that the Snake would bite him as well. Trying to make peace, the owner captured a mouse and tossed it down the hole. "We will always be at war," the Snake hissed, "because when I see you I think about my missing tail and when you see me you see the murderer of your son."
